Bring on the New Year

We recently played our last show of 2010, it was at CCAS with Paranoia Agent (really really good, Glassjaw-esque band) and two punk/hardcore bands from Puerto Rico - Anti-Sociales and Un Final Fatal! Very fun show and great people all around....for those of you in Puerto Rico, FIRES may be coming to your neck of the woods someday now that we have a place to stay! Rock n roll man.

So we are going to spend the next few months concentrating on songwriting and maybe doing some new recordings, so look for those on www.fires.bandcamp.com and on our myspace page, www.myspace.com/firesmd!! There has been talk of doing a split with our friends R&R, maybe we will and maybe we won't - it's all talk, but there you have it. There has also been talk of doing a 45's single in general for a comp that a buddy of ours is wanting to do with a bunch of local Baltimore bands - again, all talk, big whoop wanna fight about it??

Well, hopefully good things will happen and bad things won't. Have a good holiday, grab a bottle of Kraken or Clan MacGregor and stay warm out there...

Seedy's & FEST

CDs are done.. each one is handmade and comes sealed with a kiss, figuratively. Come to a show to get one, or go to fires.bandcamp.com to download the songs.

We are heading down to Florida to play with my oldest and dearest friends in Twelve Hour Turn in October. It's been 8 years since they've played together, and 8 years that I've missed their music.
Tentatively, the shows are that Wednesday and Thursday in St Augustine and Jacksonville, also with Army of Ponch.

Ask me if I'm stoked, I dare you.

Recording - We Say Ah-YESSSAAH!

So it's been a long time coming, but we are heading into the The Music Works Recording Studio mid July to record our demo! We hope to have it done in time to hand out to the masses at TACO TUESDAY @ CCAS on Tuesday July 20th! We are playing with R&R (oh my god they are a rad band) and Wavelets (also a rad band, and from Florida which is equally rad).

Come on out and get your copy of the Fires demo and eat some tacos!!!

Jesus Christ: More Famous Than Bruce Lee?

Hello Internet, how are you?
Played a huge show this past weekend at Cyclops bookstore - the crowd was so large that it was spilling onto the streets....um, okay, so it was a bit smaller than described - but it was still fun....the line-up consisted of Kitsch (eery theremin vibes and all), us (Fires, in case you forgot where you were), and Tommy The Unsentimental. Sweet show, good times had by all.....

...did you know that Bruce Lee was known to stroll the trashy streets of Northwest Baltimore looking for women? Neither did we, but we found this out after talking to one of the folks who came to our show who seemed to have first hand knowledge of such things. The guy also knows Heart and Bob Seger's brother, so I think we may have to set up a tour soon...

blessed not lucky

The show at Charm City Art Space was amazing - so much positivity in that building and every band ruled, thanks so much if you came out! We met new people, made new friends, and my daughter Hannah came out to see her dad play and yell for the 1st time. This show and experience was something I didn't see coming, or even thought could be possible. So thank you from the bottom of my soul.

Saturday (April 17th) we play again with Tommy the Unsentimental and the theramin soaked Kitsch. It will be a good show, so if you make it, come say hi.. and make sure to grab a lyric sheet, I worked hard on them!

internet presence!

Hello, we're Fires...

We just played a fantastic show with Tommy the Unsentimental, Kitsch, and Torin Nash. I thought I would like Tommy alright and all, but they really blew me away. Erin's kick-drum was so into the jamz that it kept dancing away.

Next show is April 9th - a yearly weekend benefit for Charm City Art Space of which we are setting up as I type - well not "as" I type, but before and after. Hopefully we'll have a new song ready by then.

We plan to record (again) next weekend, with the help of Myke's father-in-law who just happens to have a small studio in his basement, and knows more about recording than all of us put together. divine intervention.
